Aran Islands-Inishmore, the largest of the three islands
After another delicious breakfast we boarded the bus for the 1 hour drive to Kilronan and the ferry. Once we arrived on Inishmore Stephen had buses waiting to take us around the island. Six people rented bicycles and enjoyed their time using that mode of transportation. The landscape is very rocky and has steep cliffs as well as a sandy beach. Our bus driver, Oliver, is a seventh generation on the island of about 800 residents.
My "buddy" Chris with her friend Bobby.

Our first stop was Dun Aengus. It was a long and at times rough walk up to the fortress. This stone fortress which is 2,000 years old has little known about it. It has 3 concentric walls that are 10 feet tall and 13 feet thick. There are 3 possibilities for it.

We were back in town by 5:45 for our dinner reservations at Martine's Wine Bar in Old Town and near Eyre Square.
